Arraiga is a community art association rooted in Barcelona since 2022. We are a rhizomatic, multilingual collective of artists, activists, researchers and journalists who work fluidly across roles, disciplines, languages, and forms.  Arraiga seeks to root in local histories and stories by engaging with existing communities and their everyday lived experience.  We collaborate with community centres and understand public space as sites of research and encounter. 

Through performative and visual arts people engage with creative methods outside of institutional art settings. Combining practices from theatre pedagogy, critical pedagogy, artistic research and ethnography we develop methodologies that connect local memories with future imaginaries.

We understand remembering as a practice for imagining different futures and the everyday as a container that holds stories of care and resilience that often remain untold. Based on this understanding, the future is not a faraway utopia or dystopia but something we collectively create everyday. Arraiga seeks to bring people together and foster collective imagination towards post-growth futures.
